The Jonagold is a very good dessert apple. It is great for eating fresh, for baking into pies, muffins and tarts and for salads. It also makes a delicious sauce. Large in size, its flesh is crisp and juicy and creamy yellow in color. The flavor is sweet, with a lot of balancing acidity. These apples are best soon after harvest, as they do not store well for long periods of time. Please keep them refrigerated.
This apple should be available for sale from the middle of September through the beginning of November depending on the season.
Jonagold is a high quality American apple and as its name suggests is a cross between a Jonathan and a Golden Delicious. The Jonagold apple has a balanced blend of both its parents’ flavors offering the sweet-tart taste found in the Jonathan and the aromatic honey like flavor of the Golden Delicious.
